Enugu State is highly endowed with huge mineral resources. Beside oil deposits, the state, according to a study by the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), is also rich in lateritic clay, kaolinitic clay, ball clay, iron-ore, glass sand, gypsum, coal, silica sand, ceramic clay, among others.

The discovery of large oil deposits in Igga and Ojo communities in Uzo-uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State has spurred the state to ask to be enlisted and recognized as an oil-producing state, which is being strongly considered by the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). This is a laudable feat made by the current Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

It is not only a plus for the state in general but will specifically benefit the host communities and local government, as special packages shall at all times be reserved for them.
This corroborates the views of Peter Mbah, the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Enugu, which he made on 22nd July, 2022 during his thank-you tour to the people of Uzo-Uwani that Uzo-uwani is highly blessed with large deposits of mineral resources which could be explored to make our state better.

Peter Mbah has always made his clear vision and commitment towards changing the lives of the citizens known to the Ndi Enugu, especially at his series of town hall meetings, which have become an integral part of his grassroots campaigns. He always assures the people that his administration shall strive to ensure the laudable initiative of the current government as it concerns making Enugu an oil-producing state will be fully achieved, and that coal mining shall also recommence in the state.

Peter Mbah who has remarkably done well in the oil and gas industry has maintained that Enugu State shall prevail upon the oil companies operating Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 916 to bring into production their wells within Enugu State, while he will engage the investors in OPLs 914, 905 and 907 and work with them to achieve commercial production in their fields.

It is assured that mobilizing investments for geo-spatial mapping of our natural resources, their sustainable extraction, beneficiation, and value addition in the system shall help in changing the current economic status-quo of the state.

Peter Mbah has said that these rich natural resources are assets that lay dormant for years, especially since independence. He hinted his readiness to work with global investors, multilateral Development Banks, donor partners and local private investors to develop our oil and gas fields, other natural endowments, and harness renewable energy systems: biogas for cooking; solar and wind energy for powering our universities, colleges, primary schools and hospitals, our roads and villages.

As an oil magnate who succeeded in making his company, Pinnacle Oil and Gas Ltd the number one leading oil firm in the Country’s oil downstream sector, Peter Mbah no doubt has enough influence, spread, knowledge and experience to maximize the human and material resources needed to leverage on our natural resources to make Enugu the best state in the country.

Political analysts have conceded to the fact that Peter Mbah is a rare personality to find in today’s society. Looking at his track records of achievements in both public and private sector, Peter has distinguished himself unlike other boastful candidates who are dearth of such stunning track records in their public and private history.

Today, we yearn for technocrats, not career politicians. We need people like Peter Mbah with a private sector driven mindset who will use his burning desire and obsession with having a state characterized by a thriving productivity, which will in turn unleash great changes in our society just like he has done by establishing the highest oil and gas facility in West Africa. Such a man of vision and disruptive creativity should be encouraged by everyone to bring his innovative finesse to governance so that our long awaited tomorrow will indeed be here.
