The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbannaya Onu, yesterday said the Federal Government plans to phase out mud houses across the country.
Onu, who spoke during a visit to the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute, Nnewi, Anambra State, said the draft action plan is already being developed.
He said the plan would be made possible through a research that would bring about cheap building materials which would enable Nigerians own decent houses.
The minister pledged the commitment of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to make positive difference in research areas that would enhance employment opportunities; decent houses and decent lives for Nigerians.
“It is the desire of this government to give Nigerians decent living conditions. That’s why we are charging NBRRI to engage in researches that would be felt at the grassroots”, he said. (Daily Trust)
