Former Abia State governor and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ogbonaya Onu has assured that Nigeria will soon return to the path of glory with the culture of good governance and orderliness being entrenched by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Onu who said the nation would definitely overcome the teething problems that had bedeviled her over the years, is optimistic that the country would in no distant time be counted among the great nations of the world.

The APC chieftain who spoke at the 2015 Igbo Day in Abuja, urged Nigerians to close ranks and work towards the growth of the country, stressing that the much sought goal of national unity and cohesion would not be achieved if Nigerians are in disarray.

He charged Ndigbo to not only love one another but work for the peace and prosperity of the country.

“Our dear country will be 55 years old as an independent nation and more than 101 years as a country. We must continue to work for the greatness of Nigeria. We should always remember that when a people bond together in the pursuit of a common goal, they will overcome. We should be our brothers’ keeper for there is always strength in unity.

“We should look back at yesterday and learn from the lessons of our journey so far and resolve to engage tomorrow for better prospects. We have the men. We have the women. We have the human and material resources to enable us build a great nation,” he said.

“I am confident that Ndiagbo will help renew Nigeria. We cannot achieve this if we are not united. I urge that we do not allow division among ourselves and hence work together in love and unity in the pursuit of a common destiny. When we work together for the common good, our individual talents, strength and achievements will be better appreciated by all. We did it in the past. We can do it in the future,” Onu said.
