The President of Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo, in Abuja, Mazi Odozi Elijah Nwodozi, has hailed the Igbo people for their contributions toward national development in every nook and cranny of the country.
He has also offered that they should invest in the Igbo land.
Nwodozi gave the advice during the 2015 celebration of Igbo Day and New Yam Festival in Abuja.
The theme of the celebration was “Ako na Uche na Idi na Otu”, meaning, “Tact and Unity”. Nwodozi, called for the protection of life and property of Ndi-Igbo in Nigeria and in the diaspora.
He also called for rekindling of Igbo language and culture and charged entrepreneurs among Ndi-Igbo to establish Igbo language newspapers, which according to him, would go a long way towards reinvigoration of the language and rich cultures of the Igbo people.
He spoke on the need for Ndi-Igbo to not use the artificial creation of geo-political zones in Nigeria to discriminate against themselves, just as he said that Ndi-Igbo in the diaspora should know that they had equal rights with those at home.
Speaking on the Muhammadu Buhari led government, he said the president did not appoint any Igbo son or daughter into his kitchen cabinet, because they voted in line with their conscience, but warned that such discrimination could encourage disunity. (Daily Times)
