Imo gets 20 new traditional rulers

crownBarely two weeks after the Imo State Government released a list of 17 newly-elected monarchs for official confirmation, Governor Rochas Okorocha has upgraded the list to include three appointments, bringing the total number to 20.

The new monarchs, who have been cleared by relevant agencies of government, would be issued with staff of office to occupy the traditional stools in 20 autonomous communities.

According to the list, which was made available to The Guardian, Eze Chidume Okoro; Eze E. C. Okeke and Eze Mathew E. Oweni were appointed deputy chairmen of their respective zones.

Other 17 monarchs cleared by the government but waiting to be issued with staff of office are Franklin A. Dabrinze of Uzoagba autonomous community (Ikeduru Local Council); D. E. C. Onyebuagu of Ibiasoegbe autonomous community (Oru West Local Council); Ifeanyi Kenneth Akunebo of Umueze Abazu Ogwa (Mbaitoli); Prince Charles C. Anyakudo of Ekwe ( Isu); Chief Ugo Ndubueze Donatus of Umunokwu Okwuato (Aboh Mbaise Local Council); and Chief Barthlomew C. Agu of Aku-Amato Amaraku (Isiala Mbano Local Council).

Others include Nze Marcellus N. Iheme of Umuezegwu-Ihitte /Uboma Local Council; Chief Louis Nwagu of Umuezeala Ogwara autonomous community (Ehime Mbano); Chief Benneth Ewuzie of Iho- Dimeze, (Ikeduru); Sir Athanasius Ezekwe of Enyiogugu (Aboh Mbaise); Nze James Nnamdi of Nguru-Nweke (Aboh Mbaise); Chief Francis Anukwu of Avuvu (Ikeduru); and Nze James Ujumadu Ezerioha of Ihitte- Owerre, (Orlu).

According to the statement, others are Dr. J. C. Ebii of Umunama autonomous Community in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Council; Alozie Jude Mbamaonyeukwu, Onicha Nwaorie autonomous Community (Ezinihitte Mbaise); Chief George Ben Uzoma of Owerre Ebeiri autonomous community (Orlu); and Chief Ononenyi Boniface Uzoma of Ekitiafor Abba autonomous Community (Nwangele).
