Notable Nollywood actresses, Genevieve Nnaji and Stephanie Okereke-Linus, are among those who would slug it out at the upcoming Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award, which will hold in Lagos next year.
In a colourful ceremony held in Lagos last weekend, the nominees’ list was released and the names of some Nigerian actors and their counterparts all over Africa were on the list.
Announcing the nominees was the duo of popular Kenyan broadcaster, Larry Madowo and renowned Nigerian comedienne, ChiGurl, during a special live broadcast on all Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv.
For their movies Dry and Road to Yesterday respectively, Genevieve and Stephanie will battle it out with Akin Omotosho’s Tell Me Sweet Something, Juliet Asante’s Silverain and Sara Blecher’s Ayanda in the Best Overall Movie category.
Other Nollywood stars who made the list include Funke Akindele, Lepacious Bose and Ini Edo who are nominated in the Best Actress in Drama (comedy) category.
The likes of Mike Ezuronye, Segun Arinze, Daniel .K. Daniel, Blossom Chukwujekwu and Majid Michael would also engage in a fierce battle in the Best Actor in a Drama Category. (Punch)
