Buhari sacks EFCC chairman, Lamorde

The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, has been sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ibrahim Magu, a senior official of the Economic and Governance Unit of the EFCC,has been named as the acting chairman of the anti-corruption agency.

Magu joined the agency from inception as an investigator but was removed along with several other key officials by Mrs. Farida Waziri when she became chairman in 2008.

No reason was given for the sudden removal of Lamorde, who was appointed as the EFCC chairman by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011
