The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has condemned the disposition and assertion of some Anioma people of Delta State claiming that they are not Biafrans and should not be counted as such.
The group stated that those who made such a statement were government paid Anioma people who do not know their root and history.
The group also said despite every other things, the people of Anioma speak Igbo language and have the same culture with their brothers across the river Niger.
A statement signed the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Mr. Emma Powerful said some people, who were making noise from Anioma and Rivers were the same people benefiting from the current government in power, who are selfish and after their personal enrichment than the benefit of the entire people of Biafra.
The group also told the ‘noise makers’ from Delta and Rivers that when the time comes, “the people will come out to go where they belong to, because according to the statement, the real people of Anioma and Rivers know where they came from and strongly believe in the struggle knowing fully well what happened during the civil war.
“One person or few people cannot speak for Anioma and Rivers people. Until the time of referendum, the people of Rivers State and Anioma of Delta State will decide where they belong not when somebody or group of people will collect money to enrich themselves in the name of their people and claim they are representing their people, when the chips are down, we will know,” the statement added.
