It is no longer in doubt that defeat is staring the few Nsukka labourers and visionless oppositions in Enugu State in the face ahead of Saturday’s National Assembly and Presidential elections. The defeat is obvious considering all indices and permutations. It has now dawned on them that nothing stops PDP from winning the elections, having picked credible persons as candidates, performed well in the state and campaigned vigorously for support and votes in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
The Nsukka labourers and the visionless Enugu oppositions’ conspiracies and gang-ups against Bar. Peter Mbah, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and other PDP candidates, which include fabricating and peddling libelous articles, stories and videos against them on social media platforms, sponsoring and funding frivolous court cases against them, inciting the people including some church leaders against them have all failed the Nsukka labourers and their cohorts.
Before the Federal High Court, Enugu’s recent dismissal of one Chika Idoko’s frivolous suit against Enugu State PDP candidates for lack of merit, the Nsukka labourers, who were sponsors of the suit had been celebratory of anticipated victory, hoping that such would pave way for them to contest the elections without PDP on the ballot papers.
Their only hope of getting anything in the elections was dashed with the dismissal of the suit, a development that has been giving them sleepless nights and keeping them restless, hopeless and disorganised. It is now obvious to Ndi Enugu that Nsukka labourers and visionless oppositions in Enugu State’s only hope of making any impact or headway in the forthcoming elections is to see that PDP and its candidates are disqualified from the contest by all means including through judicial manipulation or compromise.
Since that didn’t come as they expected and hoped for, the Nsukka labourers have resorted to sponsoring faceless groups in the name of CSOs, some psuedo analysts, charge-and bail lawyers to be appearing on television stations and writing baseless press statements calling on Enugu PDP governorship candidate, Bar. Peter Mbah to withdraw from the race over allegation of NYSC certificate forgery.
When has mere certificate forgery allegations become judicial indictment or culpability? When have CSOs become security agencies and the court? Why are the Nsukka labourers afraid of Bar. Mbah contesting the election and desperate to realise his withdrawal or disqualification by hook or by crook? Is it not because they have seen their defeat before the elections and are doing everything possible to get victory through the backdoor?
If the Nsukka labourers and other paperweight oppositions in Enugu state are prepared for the forthcoming elections, they wouldn’t have been dissipating energies fabricating and peddling falsehoods and lies against Governor Ugwuanyi, Bar. Mbah and other PDP candidates on social media platforms, instead of campaigning for votes and support across the state.
Now that the Nsukka labourers and their cohorts have exhausted their mischievous antics and tricks on social media against Governor Ugwuanyi and Bar. Mbah, they are at the crossroads. The die is cast. Niether Bar. Mbah, Governor Ugwuanyi nor any of the PDP candidates will be disqualified or withdrawn from the race before the elections or after.
PDP candidates will contest the elections and will surely defeat the Nsukka labourers and other noisy oppositions in the race. It is because of impending defeat that Nsukka labourers are afraid of Governor Ugwuanyi, Bar. Mbah and other PDP candidates in the elections.
Unfortunately, it is too late for them now as their defeat in the election is inevitable.
