The worst would have been recorded yesterday if not for the immediate intervention of some rescuers who averted a fight between an alleged hired group and their contractors in Lagos that gathered to protest against the judgment of the Appeal Court, which declared the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Dr. Alex Otti the winner of Abia State governorship election.

protwThe group known as Abia Youth Team who earlier staged a peaceful demonstration to fault the court’s judgement which declared Otti as the winner of Abia State governorship election however ended in a fight over failure of their contractors to fulfill the agreement reached before the protest.

According to one of the aggrieved supporters of the non-existing group in Lagos, “We were individually invited to protest against Alex Otti’s Appeal Court victory. They agreed to pay each of us the sum of Two thousand naira after.

“After much argument, they agreed to our terms. When we were about ending, a government vehicle got to the place with a plated number ABGH30. Later, the vehicle tried escaping with the two men that contracted us, but we refused. Seeing how serious we were, they attacked us and we retaliated back,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Abia North senatorial candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) David Onuoha has condemned the involvement of the youths, while advising that they should not allow themselves to be used by overzealous politicians. (Vanguard)
