Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi, has lost his mother, Mrs. Magareth Umahi. She died on Tuesday after a brief illness at an Enugu hospital.
Meanwhile, the Ebonyi State Government today declared a seven days mourning in hounour of the mother to the State Governor.
The State Deputy Governor, Barr Kelechi Igwe who led members of the State Executive Council to condole the Governor in his temporary lodge in Abakaliki, declared the 7 days mourning.
Igwe said all State Executive Council members, Chairmen and members of boards and parastatal are expected to converge at the Government House chapel from 9 am for a one hour praise and worship service in honour of the deceased for 7 days.
Mrs. Umahi’s was last seen in the public at the church service in June after the governor’s inauguration.
A source said the corpse had been deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki.
