Kinsmen of Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has asked Dr Alex Otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, who lost his governorship bid recently at the Supreme Court to congratulate their son on his victory and join hands with him to rebuild the state.

Some of his kinsmen who spoke with Vanguard at Ikpeazu,s country home of Umuobiakwa in Obingwa Local government council said that after the Supreme Court’s confirmation of Ikpeazu’s electoral victory last Wednesday, their son being a humble man would not let Otti down if he acts right in his defeat.

Ikpeazu and Otti Ikpeazu and Otti Mr Azuogu Nwachukwu who is Ikpeazu’s uncle said: “Since birth, Okezie’s name has been reflecting on his life, hence God made him the first Ngwa man to sit on Abia State governorship seat. When he was made a chief in our place, he was called “Nwa-di-oha-mma” (the child that is loved by all) and God has been helping him.

People love him much and God has blessed him.” He said “Okezie has no case against Alex Oti. It is Oti that has a case with God. Okezie trusted God hence his confirmation as the Psalmist said in Psalm 125 that “ he who trusts in God is like the mountains of Zion that shall not be moved. We will tell Okezie to embrace Oti when he sees him and if he finds whatever position he can give him in this state, let him do so to show him that his heart is pure.

“If you see Oti, tell him that Okezie’s uncle said he should send a congratulatory message to Okezie and embrace him because we know that Okezie will not let him down being a humble and God-fearing man”. Mr Innocent Adindu, the Coordinator of Okezuo Abia Vision, Ward 7 Chapter of Obingwa local Government Area said that they are very happy that the Supreme Court restored Abia people’s hopes after all the fight for the position.

Ihuoma Sylvanus, another kinsman of Ikpeazu said that his joy knew no bounds for the Supreme Court’s verdict on the election since they heard it Wednesday night. “We got the news of the coming Supreme Court verdict on Tuesday and since then, we have been on edge and last night we kept awake till we got the news of Okezie’s victory late. Okezie is a humble man who helps the poor even when he was a lecturer, and we know that he would be useful to Ngwa people and Abia people. Now that he has secured his seat, he will do more”, he said.
