Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, yesterday at a federal high court in Abuja protested his continuous detention by the fedral government.

When he was brought to court in Prisons Van, he refused to alight from the vehicle, saying that the handcuffs in his hands must be removed before he would agree to alight from the van to go into the courtroom to face his trial.

It took the intervention of his lawyer, Mr. Chuks Muouma (SAN), before he agreed to go into the courtroom to continue his trial.

Upon getting to the courtroom, he also protested that he was not going to allow the prisons officials to remove the hancuffs from his hands.

At that point, his lawyers also intervene before the handcuffs could be removed from his hands.

When the trial eventually got underway, Justice James Tsoho of the court dismissed an application for the release of certain items, including his British and Nigeria passports, which are in the custody of the Department of State Service.

The court dismissed the application after it was orally made by his counsel, who told the court to release the items on ground that they would not be needed by the prosecution since they were not listed as part of exhibits to be tendered. (Leadership)
