Victoria Okoro, the estranged wife of Francis Obila, son of the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, has accused her mother-in-law of hostility, neglect and allegedly encouraging her to endure her husband’s infidelity.
Okoro made the allegations in a Facebook post seen by THE EASTERNER amid the reported breakdown of her marriage to Francis Obila.
She questioned why her mother-in-law allegedly allowed her son to marry her despite allegedly never accepting her.
“It’s funny how a woman I call my mother-in-law does not even know the house where her precious son got married from,” Okoro wrote.
She alleged that her mother-in-law failed to contact her family following the death of her father last year.
According to Okoro, her mother-in-law neither called her mother to express sympathy nor attended her father’s burial or arranged a visit.
She further alleged that her mother’s calls and messages were ignored.
Okoro also recounted an alleged conversation with her mother-in-law after she complained about her husband’s alleged infidelity.
She claimed that her mother-in-law asked whether her husband’s alleged infidelity was the reason she was “overreacting” and breaking his windscreen.
According to her, the woman allegedly told her that her husband was “a fine man” and advised her to behave herself.
Okoro further alleged that her mother-in-law told her that even if her husband had “10 or 20” women outside the marriage, she was the woman he married and should endure the situation.
She claimed she was also advised to “use my knees as my weapon and pray for him.”
Okoro alleged that her mother-in-law had previously told her that she was “not even worthy of being a maid” to her youngest child.
The Facebook post came after an earlier post in which Okoro accused her estranged husband of emotional, verbal and financial abuse.
In that post, she alleged that Francis had subjected her to various forms of abuse, endured alleged infidelity and physically assaulted her while she was breastfeeding their baby.
She also alleged that he stood behind his mother to chase her out of their home and prevented her from seeing their children.
“God is watching all of you,” Okoro wrote in the post about her mother-in-law.
