The Ebonyi State House of Assembly at the weekend approved N116 million for the purchase of four sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for two former governors of the state, Senator Sam Egwu and Chief Martin Elechi, former governor of the state and current minister of science and technology Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and former secretary to the government of the federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.
The approval followed a letter to the Assembly by the state governor, Chief Dave Umahi, requesting that it approved the sum for the purchase of the four cars.
Umahi in the letter said the services rendered by the selected leaders of the state and Nigeria needed to be appreciated.
The letter was read on the floor of the House by the Leader and member representing Ezza North East state constituency, Hon. Joseph Nwaobasi.
Nwaobasi, who contributed on the debate on the letter, said the beneficiaries rendered selfless services to the state and the nation in general and urged the members to support it.
