Police in Ebonyi State have arrested suspected cultists said to be members of German Arror, who abducted two girls, dragged them into the bush, initiated them into their cult group and forcibly had carnal knowledge of them. The state Police Commissioner, Peace Abdallah, who disclosed this while parading suspected criminals, said the incident occurred at Igboeze Onicha in Onicha Local Government Area.

She said: “Six of the cult boys, Ugochukwu Onueze, Michael Innocent, Ogbonnaya Okike, Ogbonnaya Ogbu, Nnamdi Ogbonnaya and Emmanuel James, were later arrested.” Abdallah also paraded an official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Chukwuma Igbokwe, and 10 others for alleged vandalism. The 11 suspects were said to have vandalised petroleum pipeline at Amaeze, Ishiagu in Ivo Local Government Area.

The commissioner said the command received distress call on the activities of the vandals. She said: “Policemen raced to the scene, and after exchange of gun fire with the hoodlums, arrested one Igbokwe Chukwuma an NSCDC official and 10 other suspects while others escaped. “One white Peugeot bus with registration number Taraba AA 326 ARD and white Mitsubishi truck with registration number Imo DFB 162XA both loaded with substance suspected to be petroleum product was impounded.”

Abdallah also announced the dismissal of a police corporal attached to the command, Okporie Okporie, for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl. Meanwhile, the NSCDC in Ondo State has arrested two women and eight secondary school students for allegedly being members of a cultist group, Eiye Confraternity. The state NSCDC Commandant, Mr. Ayinla Adeyinka, said five of the students were male while the rest three were female.

He said they were between 14 and 16 years old. According to him, the students were arrested in different parts of the state. Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters, Alagbaka, Akure yesterday, Adeyinka explained that a student of the suspects’ schools came back to the school to initiate the under-aged students to join his group.

He said: “The former student of the secondary school was the one that came to the school to persuade other students to join his group. He will also have sex with the female ones to initiate them.” Adeyinka disclosed that the alleged cultists meet every Friday on the school premises. One of the female suspects confessed that three of them were initiated by her boyfriend who she identified as ‘Sergeant,’ a student of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, and former student of her school.

Explaining how she got initiated into the group, the 15-year-old suspect said she joined the group in November 2015 when ‘Sergeant’ introduced the group to her and her friends. She said: “He had sex with the three of us in his house and after the sex he cut our hands to take our blood and told us that we have joined his group in November last year.”

The suspect added that they used to meet inside the bush at the back of their school every Friday after the school hours. She, however, noted that they had not harmed or killed anybody since they joined the group. The NSCDC commandant said the command had been on the trail of the fleeing suspect, promising that he would soon be arrested. Adeyinka appealed to the parents to always take good care of their children and know the type of company they keep. (AIT Online)
