The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] continued to fester yesterday as, another court, in Abuja, stopped the party from conducting election in 18 National officers at its May 21 2016 convention scheduled for Port Harcourt Rivers State.
The court stopped election into offices of the National Secretary and National Auditor of the party.
Delivering judgment in suit No. FCT/HC/ CV/1443/2016, Justice A.B. Mohammed of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory [FCT] held that the tenure of the National secretary and National Auditor of the party will expire by December 2018 while the remaining officer’s tenure will expire by August 30, 2017 with the exception of the National Financial Secretary and Chairman whose offices are vacant.
Early in the week, a court in Lagos stopped the PDP convention.
In its ruling, yesterday, the court gave the following order: An order of interlocutory injunction as requested by the plaintiffs/applicants restraining the 2nd defendant/respondent from conducting any election into the offices of the National Chairman, National Secretary and National Auditor occupied by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd plaintiffs respectively, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
An order of interlocutory injunction to the plaintiffs/applicants restraining the 1st defendant/respondent from monitoring and or recognising the conduct of any the 2nd defendant/respondent into the offices of the National Chairman, National Secretary and National Auditor occupied by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd plaintiffs respectively, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
