house-of-assemblyAbia State House of Assembly has said that it has no plans to change its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike, who is barely eight months in office after the inauguration of the sixth session of the House.

Deputy Speaker, Hon. Cosmos Ndukwe, who is also the chairman of House committee on information, Wednesday debunked the insinuations of impending leadership change during the monthly press briefing on the activities of the legislature.

The social media has been awash with unattributed reports alleging that the House of Assembly was making plans to offload its Speaker over his inability to cater to the welfare of the lawmakers.

But Ndukwe said that the Sixth legislature remain focused and committed in its legislative duties to waste precious time planning on how to change its leadership, adding that making legislations that would positively impact on the lives of Abians remains uppermost on the minds of the legislators.

“We’ve passed vote of confidence on both the Speaker and our state governor,” he said, adding that the House is at peace and would not allow any outside influence to upset the apple cart.

The House information committee chairman pointed accusing finger at the opposition for using the social media platform to spread unfounded rumour in order to cause disaffection in the House, vowing that such subterfuge would not succeed.
