Woman demands justice as sister dies from domestic violence in Imo

Ezinne Onyedikachi Brenda Akataobi, a sister to the deceased, said: “Olumma, who did you leave your children for? Olumma, you allowed Kelechi to beat you to de@th. Olumma who did you leave your two children for.

“An Ngor-Okpala man has k!lled my sister. Nigerians, please, come and hear my voice.

“What happens on social media has happened in the home of my mother and father. It has happened in my home.

“Nigerians help me o. Domestic violence has k!lled my sister o.”

In another video, Ezinne claimed that after Kelechi Okeke b£at his wife to de@th, he lied that she was eating and started shouting, “my chest, my chest” and she di£d

“I must surely get justice for my younger sister. Olumma, my sister does not deserve to di£ this way,” she said.

Ezinne stated that Olumma was not sick. She narrated how earlier that day, their mum and Olumma entered the same keke together after Olumma went to Bush Market to buy goods for her business.

She added that Olumma already made plans with her suppliers that she would be at the market by 5am on Tuesday, Feb. 3, to buy vegetables but she was k!lled before then.

Ezinne said: “Kelechi, Olumma that feeds you, Olumma that buys your baby’s custard, buy children’s milk, buy diapers… Kelechi, Olumma takes care of these children. The only thing you will use to pay her back is to k!ll her. Because of her own thirty-five thousand Naira, money her customers sent to your account.

“She came back and asked for the money that she is going to use the money for turnover the next day, you k!lled my sister. And you’re here, you’re writing a useless statement that she vomited, she di£d, she was saying ‘my chest, my chest’. Kelechi, you’ll prove it.”

Ezinne went on to state that she had warned Kelechi never to b£at her sister. She also said the family always told Kelechi that she was welcome back home, but each time Kelechi would pack her bags and run back to her husband.

Recalling her words to Olumma, Ezinne said: “Olumma come back home, Olumma stay home, you’re welcome at home, you’re loved.A woman identified as Ezinne Onyedikachi Brenda Akataobi has accused a man, Kelechi Okeke, of beating her sister, Olumma, to death in what she described as a case of domestic violence.

Speaking in an emotional video shared online, Ezinne, who is the elder sister of the deceased, alleged that Okeke, an indigene of Ngor-Okpala in Imo State, assaulted Olumma, leaving her dead. She appealed to Nigerians to help her seek justice, describing the incident as devastating to her family.

“What people see on social media has now happened in my family. Domestic violence has killed my sister,” she said.

In another video, Ezinne alleged that after the assault, Okeke claimed that Olumma died suddenly while eating, saying she complained of chest pain before collapsing. Ezinne, however, rejected this account, insisting that her sister was not ill and had been active earlier that day.

She narrated that Olumma had gone to Bush Market with their mother to purchase goods for her business and had made arrangements with her suppliers to be at the market by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, to buy vegetables. According to her, Olumma was killed before she could carry out those plans.

Ezinne further alleged that the incident was triggered by a dispute over ₦35,000, which Olumma’s customers had sent to her husband’s bank account. She claimed that Olumma requested the money for business turnover the following day, which led to the fatal confrontation.

“She was the one feeding the family, buying food, milk, diapers, and taking care of the children,” Ezinne said, accusing Okeke of repaying her efforts with violence.
Ezinne also disclosed that she had repeatedly warned Okeke against physically abusing her sister. She said the family had often encouraged Olumma to return home permanently for her safety, assuring her of their support, but that she would always return to her husband.
