The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has made a resounding pledge, affirmation and reassurance to the people of Nsukka West, Nsukka Central, Nsukka South and Nsukka East development centers which are all under the Nsukka Local Government Area that they will be major beneficiaries of his administration when elected as the governor of Enugu State.
Nsukka is made up of Mkpunano, Nru, and Ihe n’ Owerre. There is a trend currently that all the towns under Enugu North Local Government are from Nsukka zone. This trend could be as a result of Nsukka housing the now defunct Nsukka province under colonial rule.
Nsukka is also a local government area and comprises several towns including Nsukka the host to the first indigenous university in Nigeria, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).
The large population at the local government has also increased her voting strength with records of 51,207 votes produced for the incumbent governor in the 2019 general election. Meticulously, the people of the local government have carved a niche for themselves which has given them a great bargaining power for negotiations on the tables of dividends of Democracy.
With the favourable climate of the area, Mbah saw the need for making it one of the tourist hubs for ndi-Enugu and the world by promising to build a theme park which will attract over 3 million tourists yearly. The wavelet and undulation outcome will affect the economy positively, create jobs for our youths, and also serve as a means of generating revenue for the people in the hospitality sector.
The fertile and productive soil of the land is an opportunity for the people because Mbah who has big dreams and plans in the agricultural sector assured the people of his readiness to grow the economy from $4.4billion to $30 billion which entails the scale up for production in the agricultural sector by growing it from $2 billion to $10 billion. Reiterating that his administration will support farmers by building a special agro-allied processing zone in each of the three senatorial zones. Access, storage facilities and processing will be constructed. And his plans to assist market men and women by creating enabling environment for them to establish their businesses by derisking investment flow. He promised to support and encourage investors so that our youths can be gainfully employed.
Apart from the fact that Enugu brags about the housing of the University Of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), it has become imperative that the state begins to harness on the potentials of the university by making the location worthwhile to the people, the state and Nigeria in totality.This would be achieved by the interesting disruptive thoughts of Mr Mbah in making the institution a “diffusion of know-how”
The construction of access roads to their various communities already captured in the manifesto considering their large-scale farming engagement especially in the area of the famous “Ose Nsukka” used for spices and seasoning that will be made an export product under Mbah’s Administration.
Mbah who spoke with honest declaration made it clear to the people of his preparedness in solving the water problem by aggressive drilling of boreholes for quality and portable water, rehabilitation of old ones and construction of new health facilities with 24 hours workers which will see that his people are healthy to enjoy the exponentially wealth and growth the state will witness under his watch.
The people of Nsukka West, Nsukka Central, Nsukka South and Nsukka East development centers showed tremendous goodwill and support to the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Mr Mbah. They zestfully testified to the goodness of the PDP administrations since 1999 till date. They therefore promised to vote vastly and massively for Mbah to enable them enjoy the sevenfold of their investment for their support to PDP since 1999.
