The Indigenous People of Biafra, on Tuesday, reacted to a statement credited to the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the November 6 Anambra State gubernatorial election, Senator Andy Uba, that he met with IPOB members to discuss the forthcoming governorship poll.
In a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, and made available to Daily Post on Tuesday, IPOB stated emphatically that Andy Ubah did not meet any of its members, adding that it has no interest in the coming election in the state.
The pro-Biafra group challenged the APC Senator to disclose the IPOB members he met as claimed in some sections of the media.
IPOB warned Uba to stop using her name to score cheap popularity, as it has “no time for political desperados whose only interest is their pocket.”
The secessionist organization further warned media platforms to ensure they verify any news report that has to do with IPOB before publishing.
IPOB equally cautioned politicians to stop associating it with their politics, saying it has no interest in Nigeria’s politics as it will not be distracted from restoring Biafra for whatever reason.
According to the separatist group in the release, “Andy Uba and his likes should leave IPOB out of their politics. Again, Andy Uba could not have possibly accessed the leadership of IPOB.
“How could we have granted audience to Andy Uba who has never issued a common press statement against killings by Fulani herdsmen.
“What has Andy Uba done since our leader was abducted to seek his release? Is it now that Andy Uba is involved in the Anambra election that he knows he can engage IPOB?
“We won’t tolerate the use of IPOB’s name for any scam. Enough is enough! We also warn media platforms to ensure they verify any news that has to do with IPOB before publishing. The media especially social media should stop using IPOB to market their platforms”.
