Two Catholic priests slain in Edo, Kaduna

The Chaplain of the Catholic Community of the Kaduna State Polytechnic, Rev. Fr. Vitus Borogo, has been killed by terrorists on his farm off Kaduna-Kachia Road.

The Chancellor of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna, Rev. Fr. Christian Emmanuel, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, saying the cleric was killed on Saturday.

Emmanuel said: “Fr Borogo was aged 50 and was the chaplain of the Catholic community of the Kaduna State Polytechnic, and the Chairman of the Nigerian Catholic Diocesan Priests Association (NCDPA), Kaduna Chapter.

“Most Rev. Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, the Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna condoles with the immediate family, the NFCS Family of Kaduna Polytechnic, and indeed the entire Kaduna Polytechnic Community and assures them of his fraternal closeness and prayers,” Emmanuel said.

In a similar development, another Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Christopher Odia was killed in Auchi, Edo State.

Odia was until his death the priest in charge of St Michael Catholic Church at lkhabigbo in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.

He was abducted from his rectory in the early hours of Sunday while he was on his way to conduct a mass for worshippers at the parish.

His corpse was found in the evening and has been deposited in the morgue.
