The Nigerian military has said that troops of the Nigerian Army killed 13 persons believed to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafara (IPOB) and also arrested a herbalist who prepared charm for the group.
This was disclosed at a press briefing on Thursday at the Nigerian Defence Headquarters, Abuja, by the Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj Gen Musa Danmadami.
General Danmadami said the operation was carried out on November 12, by the troops at Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State when they came in contact with IPOB/Eastern Security Network (ESN) militants, neutralising 13 and arresting six others, including their herbalist.
“Troops neutralised 13 Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network criminals, arrested six including their herbalist; troops equally recovered eight AK-47 rifles, seven pump action guns, three locally made pistols, one sniper rifle, 15 rounds of 7.62mm special, 13 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, and 8 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
“Others were five cartridges, three pairs of combat boots, 2 pairs of camouflage uniforms and two camouflage jungle hats,” Danmadami said.
