Former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani on Friday, applauded south east leaders for meeting with President Muhammdu Buhari, saying dialogue is the best way to resolve any political dispute.

Daily Post recalls that President Buhari on Friday, received the delegation comprising traditional and religious leaders of the Igbo extraction at the state House in Abuja.

Although details of the meeting were not disclosed as the delegation declined to speak with journalists, it may not be disputed that the leaders discussed the security situation of the Southeast. Also, another likely issue on the agenda could be the arrest, ongoing detention and prosecution of the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Senator Shehu Sani on his verified Facebook on Friday, wrote;
“The President meeting with leaders of the South East is a step in the right direction; Such a meeting should be expanded to include other notable and important leaders of the region who are noticeably absent.

“There is need for this dialogue in order to find a political solution to the separatists agitation and violence in the south east region.

The key is dialogue and compromise; Addressing the legitimate grievances of the region, cessation of all forms of violence by the separatists groups, restoration of peace, law and order, Dropping charges and freeing all separatists prisoners and withdrawal of non-essential heavy troops presence in the region,” he said.

“This is just my view; You can just ignore it if you don’t agree with it and hold on to your belligerent or combative view. And take a glass of cold water to soothe your heart.”
