Four persons died and 12 injured in the Anambra incident, which happened on Ihiala-Onitsha Road. The Anambra crash occurred around 3pm involving a trailer and two buses with 16 persons on board.
An eyewitness said the trailer rammed into the two buses while they were being checked by policemen.
He said, “The driver of the trailer sighted the police checkpoint, stepped on his brake, which failed him, and he rammed into the two buses.”
Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adeoye Irelewuyi said the injured were taken to hospital for treatment while the bodies were deposited in the mortuary.
