Former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Atiku urged the Federal Government to evacuate Nigerians residing in Ukraine.
In a tweet, the former Vice President noted that the majority of Nigerians in Ukraine are students, hence the need to evacuate them.
He also urged all nations to deploy diplomacy in de-escalating the ongoing crisis.
According to Atiku: “The conflict between Russia and Ukraine demands that all nations of goodwill must rise to ensure that diplomacy is deployed to de-escalate the situation.
“I will also request that the Nigerian government does its best to evacuate Nigerians in Ukraine, majority of which are students.”
Ukrainian state border service had reported that Russia attacked the country’s multiple borders.
The border said the attacks are targeting border units, border patrols and checkpoints using artillery, heavy equipment and small arms.
The service added that Ukraine’s border guards, along with Ukraine’s Armed Forces and National Guard, are firing back and its air force shut down five Russian planes and several attack helicopters.
