A prestigious university in Ugbawka, Enugu State, Renaissance University has awarded scholarships to the best four students who participated in the institution’s 2022 scholarship programme.
In a statement signed by the Registrar, Olusola Adebayo and made available to The Easterner, the institution announced that it awarded scholarships to the students who excelled best in the qualifying examination for the maiden edition of the programme, tagged “Renaissance University Scholarship Programme for the Best Students”.
The statement further revealed that the scholarships were part of the interventions of the Chimaroke Nnamani Educational Institutions and Investment Holdings in the education sector which include promotion of girl-child education and regular financial assistance to needy students. But unlike others, the selection procedure for the just concluded scholarships was entirely based on merit.
The names of the winners were given as follow: ”Solomon D. Oghenechuko, 17 years old from Delta State, who came first with a score of 80, to study Computer Science in the university; Praise Chinedum Nnamani, 20 years old from Enugu State, came second with a score of 78 and will study History and International Relations; Brightness Khabirat Okesade, 17 years old from Ogun State, scored 76 and will study Nursing; while Deborah Oluwadara Oluwaga, 17 years from Lagos State, with a score of 74, will study Medical Laboratory Science.”
The Renaissance University which was founded by the former governor of Enugu State and senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, in 2005 has maintained uninterrupted academic sessions since the first batch of students was admitted in 2007.
The university has full accreditation for multiple courses including Law, Nursing and Medical Laboratory Science.
