Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State charged a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ahmed Makarfi, to ensure that the party wins in the North.
Wike said Makarfi should ensure that PDP wins in Kano, Jigawa, Niger, and Kaduna states.
He spoke at the commissioning of the Ogbunabali Sandfilled Area in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Tuesday.
According to Wike: “What I want to advise Makarfi is that make sure that PDP wins in Kaduna State, wins in Kano, win in Niger, in Jigawa.
“If PDP wins there, then see if we will win here or not. Operation deliver your state, don’t use any other state to add up.”
Makarfi had urged some presidential candidates to return to the PDP.
He urged the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate Peter Obi and his New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, counterpart, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to return to the PDP.
The former Kaduna State governor said Obi and Kwankwaso should swallow their ambitions and return to the PDP.
