A young man, simply identified as Edafe, was allegedly shot by a policeman on stop and search duty in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State on Tuesday.
The victim was shot at his rib by the policeman, Daily Post reports.
It was learnt that the policeman, in an attempt to stop the victim’s car, fired his rifle at him.
Immediately after the incident occurred, the victim was rushed to an undisclosed hospital where he is currently receiving medical attention.
The police authorities have arrested the policeman who shot the victim.
The acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who said he was anchoring a programme at the Command, promised to react to the incident later.
