Police probe murder of teenage girl in Ebonyi

Police in Ebonyi State have launched an investigation into the death of an 18-year-old girl in Isuokoma, Onicha local government area of Ebonyi State.

Adanna Goodness Ezeani was reportedly abducted, raped and strangled in the area.
Police spokesperson Loveth Odah said no arrests have been made but confirmed that the family has named suspects in the killing.
“The Commissioner of Police, Garba Shehu, has ordered a serious investigation into the matter and very soon the suspects will be arrested and brought to book,” she said.
One of the sisters of the deceased who did not want her name in print said the incident happened on March 22 when Adanna came back from Nkwoegu Isu Market with their mother around 10pm.
She said her younger sister was abducted when she went to the front of their compound to make a phone call.

A gender-based task force is reportedly working with the family and Police to assure that the killers are arrested and prosecuted.
The House of Representatives yesterday directed its Committee on Army to probe the alleged gruesome murder of an 18-year-old boy, Master Cyril Obruche, by a soldier attached to Presco Plc., at Ovre-Eko, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Committee is to report within two weeks for further legislative action.

The House also directed the Committee to probe why officers and men of the Nigerian Army are drafted to guard a private company when they are overstretched to meet the security demands of the country.
