Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspected 29-year-old man, Mr. Daniel Nebolisa, with an AK 47 and other weapons in the state.
The arrest was made known to the press via a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, on Wednesday.
Tochukwu said the suspect was arrested at his hideout at Afor Nwafia, in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state.
The statement read in part: “Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Eworo, has urged Ndi Anambra and residents alike to sustain the tempo in providing Police and the security community with timely and credible crime prevention information that will be used to curb acts of crime and criminality in the state, enjoining them to remain vigilant and law-abiding.
“The CP made this plea following a recent feat accomplished by the Command, a feat which he attributed to credible intelligence made possible by members of the public. It would be recalled that on 11/10/2021, Police operatives in Anambra bursted a criminal hideout at Afor Nwafia, Njikoka LGA, and arrested one Daniel Nebolisa M aged 29yrs, recovered one double-barrel locally fabricated pistol, one single barrel locally fabricated pistol, twenty-one live cartridge, five expended cartridges, and one AK-47 ammunition all concealed in a bag.
“The suspect who is already helping the police with information to apprehend other gang members confessed that he was awaiting other members of his gang at the time of his arrest by the police.
“Meanwhile, the CP has reassured Ndị Anambra and residents alike of the Command’s avowed commitment to do everything within its powers to maintain public security and safety in the State,” the statement stated.
