Reigning African Women Footballer of the Year and FC Barcelona forward, Asisat Oshoala, has praised the CEO of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, for donating N20 million to the Super Eagles.

Onyema pledged and redeemed the gift to the Super Eagles for their victory over Cape Verde in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier last week.

Commending the gesture, Oshoala noted that Onyema’s partnership through his company, Air Peace Airline, with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), confirms his unalloyed support for the development of sports in Nigeria.

The Super Falcons captain also declared that Onyema’s gesture would help to revamp football in Nigeria.

“I am glad that we now have a philanthropist helping to grow sports in Nigeria.

“I have never met Mr. Onyema, but I have heard a lot about him, his good works sponsoring the NFF and the national team as a whole. We need to praise him because it is not easy to bring out money from your pocket and develop football in Africa, especially Nigeria.

“I am proud of Allen Onyema. To me, he is currently the pillar of sports in Nigeria.

“When I spoke to some of the Super Eagles players, who were excited on his gesture, I was told Air Peace flew the Eagles in and out of Cape Verde. They said he also gave the Eagles money for winning the game.

“We need more Allen Onyemas in Nigeria for sports to grow. May God bless him,” she said.

Asisat Oshoala, who will lead the Super Falcons of Nigeria to the first edition of the Aisha Buhari Cup in Lagos, assured Nigerian football fans that the team is ready to give their best in the championship.
