The Imo State Government has accused the administration of former Governor Rochas Okorocha, of wasting public funds on substandard projects.
The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, said this in Owerri, on Monday.
He explained that the Governor Hope Uzodinma-led administration was more interested in safeguarding the lives of the citizens of state rather than the “preservation of the disgusting and harmful legacies of the Okorocha administration which constituted a serious threat to lives.”
Emelumba argued that the allegation by Okorocha that the government was busy demolishing his legacy projects including the Imo International Conference Centre was false.
The commissioner said, “Okorocha is placing his ego above the safety of the citizenry. It was by the sheer grace of God that the Centre did not collapse and claim innocent lives before now.
“The government has the responsibility to secure the lives of both citizens and visitors by ensuring that anything that constitutes a threat to them is addressed.”
