An oil firm in Imo state has exploded on Wednesday morning leaving two persons dead.

The incident, which occurred at Addax Oil Company at Izombe, Oguta Local Government Area of the state, caused panic in the area.

The latest development came less than two weeks after an explosion at an illegal refinery site at the Ohaji-Egbema LGA killed no fewer than 100 persons.

In the latest attack, a source at the place told our correspondent that anti- bomb operatives of the state police command had arrived at the scene.

The source, who does not want his name in print, said the two victims were trying to make their way into the firm before it exploded and killed them on the spot.
The source stated, “An explosion has rocked Addax Oil Company, killing two persons on the spot. The two persons were trying to enter the compound before it exploded and killed them.

The state police spokesman, Micheal Abattam, confirmed the incident and added that anti-bomb operatives from the command headquarters in Owerri had been drafted to the scene.
