The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano has dared IPOB, warned all banks operating in the state to immediately commence operation every Monday against the sit-at-home earlier declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra.

Governor Obiano who gave the warning at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia also mandated markets and transport companies in the state to shun the sit-at-home and commence operation.

The Governor at the Lodge met with heads of Banks and security Agency in the state.

The Governor said any bank that violated the order by not operating on Monday, would be sealed to one week and if continuous, would be closed permanently.

He stressed that every security arrangements had been finalized to ensure safety of lives and properties.

In his words, ” All branches must open. Any branch not opened will be sealed till the week. And if continuous, will be closed

“There will be significantly improved security at the banks to boost our security architecture.

“Transporters will ply and market will open and we will give all necessary protection.”

Governor Obiano regretted that the sit-at-home had been affecting the economy of the state, said his administration won’t allow it to continue.

“Things are tough and we can’t allow it . It affects Gross Domestic Product of the state. Banks cannot meet with their targets if they continue.

“I assure you of adequate security to increase the tempo of security in the state. ” Obiano added.
