The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) last night announced that the National Identification Number (NIN) Verification Service (NVS) portal has been restored.
The NVS portal went down a few days ago, causing discomfort and panic among Nigerians who struggled to verify their NIN for bank transactions and other businesses.
The NIMC authorities however maintained that the portal was down due to maintenance by one of the Commission’s network service providers of its infrastructure, and urged Nigerians to use alternative platform known as tokenisation.
NIMC said following the full restoration of the portal, customers and service providers can now take full advantage of the two verification platforms – Tokenisation and NVS – which are both effective for verification and authentication of the National Identification Number.”
A statement signed by NIMC head of Corporate Communications, Mr Kayode Adegoke, expressed “its profound gratitude to the general public and partners for their support during the NVS downtime and use of the tokenization platform.”
