A former governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu State, Pastor Beloved Dan Anike has expressed confidence in the mental capacity and competence of the flagbearer of the PDP in the State, Barr. Peter Mbah to deliver a new Enugu State in 2023.
Anike, who is a former commissioner of transportation in Enugu State and serving Permanent Member of Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board, ENSUBEB, made this known today at Nkwo Nike, the headquarters of Enugu East Local Government Area, during a thank you visit by Mbah and his running mate, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, Tuesday.
Speaking before the party supporters who turned out in large numbers, Anike told Mbah he had just arrived at Nike which he called as his (Mbah’s) home. The pastor-turned politician recalled that they were 17 in number that contested for the PDP gubernatorial ticket in May, 2022. He, however, said the decision to support the candidacy of Mbah by other co-aspirants was predicted on good faith having signed a peace agreement to support whoever emerged the flagbearer.
Exploring the rare qualities possessed by Mbah, Anike maintained that he was thrilled by the former’s level of preparedness for the job, stressing that it is only him that could deliver “our collective dreams, and that’s why we’re supporting him.”
The Redeemed Christian Church of God pastor further explained: “We were 17 aspirants that indicated interest to be governor under the PDP and we all agreed and signed documents that whoever was favoured would be supported. After your emergence, we became resolute in supporting you.
“We also decided to support you because you have the mental capacity to run the future of Enugu State. You’ve been prepared and we believe in you.
“We know you can deliver our collective dreams, and this informed why we are supporting you.
“With your nature, we believe in absolute peace and improved security of the state. We believe in you, and we will always support you.”
In the same vein, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Greg Nnaji, while commending the uncommon character of humility portrayed by Mbah, reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to deliver bloc votes for him and other candidates sponsored by their party. He maintained that Enugu East people had always played a major role in determining the outcome of every governorship election.
“We are very clear about electioneering process and votes, and we are assuring you of bloc votes. We understand the dynamics of elections and we are giving you all our support,” he said.
Also expressing the resolve to work for the PDP and the candidature of Mbah was a State House of Assembly member representing Enugu East Rural Constituency, Hon. Hillary Ugwu, who said he and those he was representing were confident that Mbah would perform to satisfaction and change the face of the state.
“When you look at both of them, Barr Peter Mbah and Barr Ifeanyi Ossai, you’ll convincingly conclude that they will transform the State.
“The best test of a pudding is in the eating. God Ugwuanyi meticulously searched for the best hands. We are confident you’ll perform immensely in the state. You have our support,” the lawmaker said.
Responding to the rousing reception the people gave to him at the local government, Mbah said he had visit to thank the people for the overwhelming support he received from them during the party’s governorship primary election. According to him, he would never take for granted, the mass votes delivered to him by the people of the council area at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on the 25 day of May, 2022.
