The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga on Friday 18th December 2020 blessed and officially opened what has been described as the biggest law auditorium in the country.
The new ultra modern law auditorium at Godfrey Okoye University and named after Barr. Peter Mbah who single handedly sponsored the construction of the edifice stands tall as yet another accomplished mile stone for the university. This is coming at a time the University law faculty marked 3 years of its creation since 2017. The auditorium was designed by Arc. Aniakor.
According to the Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, the project which kicked off in earnest on 13th July this year amidst the raging coronavirus pandemic has proven yet again the wonders and faithfulness of God.
Prof. Anieke described it as the biggest law auditorium in Nigeria and expressed his profound gratitude to God who according to him has made it possible in a world filled with lots of turbulence.
The Vice Chancellor further showered encomium in appreciation to the sponsor, Barr. Peter Mbah who he said stood against all odds in starting and completing the project.
In his address, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga who is as well the Proprietor of Godfrey Okoye University, enjoined all to always stand out to be a light in their life.
Laying further emphasis, His Lordship described the sponsor, Barr. Peter Mbah as a light who even with the difficult times occasioned by the pandemic could create something extraordinary. This he said has shown he has fulfilled three cardinal attributes, which is; being the light, showing the will and telling the truth.
His Lordship further urged everyone to emulate Christ this Christmas season in espousing the core intricate of his personality, which entails humility, self-denial and love in the spirit of Christmas.
“In the context of Christmas, we are celebrating Christ who is the truth and the light of the world. We are supposed to copy him. We are to know the substance of his teachings.
‘Christmas is much more than the things we eat or the gifts we give; it is also the right attitude as enshrined in the personality of Christ. We should show gratitude to God, that despite all, he came down to save us.
“Christmas is the feast of love. It is important we share love in all sphere. Today we are celebrating somebody sharing love with us”, His Lordship admonished.
The blessing and official opening o f the law auditorium was well attended by dignitaries, friends of the university, priests, the religious, members of staff and students of Godfrey Okoye University.
