There was jubilation at Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State as 11 kidnapped council workers regained their freedom.

The workers went into jubilation yesterday as they received the news of the release of 11 of their colleagues by their captors.

This is coming 24 hours after the workers had concluded a prayer session at the headquarters of the council secretariat for the release of their colleagues.

The Easterner had reported that the workers were abducted by the gunmen along Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, within the Imo/Abia boundary of Leru Community when they were kidnapped on Saturday as they were returning from a traditional marriage of one of their colleagues.

It was gathered that the captors accepted an alleged ransom of about N5 million.
