The Imo State Government led by Governor Hope Uzodimma has ordered the temporary suspension of the collection of daily tickets and tolls from all commercial road users in the state until further notice.
In a statement jointly signed and issued by Rex Anunobi, Commissioner Ministry of Transport and Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke, Interim Chairman Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), the Imo State Government said the directive is to enable it process the migration from analogue collection to Daily e-Ticketing.
The release said, ” The Ministry of Transport and the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) wish to announce the temporary suspension of the collection of MOT Daily Tickets on commercial buses, tricycles and commercial motorcycles in the State with immediate effect from Monday, the 9th of May, 2022.”.
“This development is to enable the State Government to diligently process the migration from analogue collection to Daily e-Ticketing.”
“The general public, particularly operators of commercial buses, tricycles and motorcycles are hereby notified to ensure compliance.
“This notice also dissolves with immediate effect all collection agents of the Ministry of Transport, MOT Daily Tickets for the Government of Imo State.”
“The MOT Daily Ticket is still a pre-condition for plying the roads in Imo State; however, please note that any person(s) found collecting the said revenue within the specified window will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.”
