The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba has presented cheques of over N30 million to the next of kin of eight deceased police officers who died while in active service in Zamfara State.

The presentation of the cheques was part of the IGP’s ongoing welfare scheme for the families of deceased officers.

The IGP, who was represented by Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkanah, while presenting the cheques to the next of kin, described it as timely and will go a long way in alleviating suffering being faced by families of deceased police officers.

The Commissioner of Police, therefore, charged the beneficiaries to utilize the money judiciously, noting that, in the last ten (10) months alone, the Command had received similar cheques from the Inspector General of Police nine (9) times and presented the same to the beneficiaries.

This gesture, according to the Commissioner of Police, will serve as a morale booster for the serving members of the force in order to continue to discharge their duties effectively.

The Commissioner also decorated one hundred and fifty-two officers newly promoted to different ranks by the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba in collaboration with the Police Service Commission.

He congratulated the newly promoted officers on behalf of the Inspector General of Police and charged them to be more determined and committed to their duty.

The CP also urged them to consider their promotion as an additional responsibility, that requires more professionalism, hard work, and discipline.
