The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Mr. Peter Mbah, has described himself as someone selected to perform an assignment on behalf of the PDP family.

Mbah made the observation while being hosted to a reception by the former frontline contender for the governorship ticket of the party, Chief Chinyeaka Ohaa at his residence in GRA, Enugu, on Saturday.

He expressed delight that Ohaa was declaring support for him in the presence of his own supporters that thronged the event.

According to him, “we had a brotherly contest and ultimately one person had to be given an assignment to go and represent others.”

The PDP governorship flag bearer expressed gratitude for the honour done to him, assuring that nobody was going to be discriminated against on account of their past support to any former aspirant.

He said: “Today is symbolic. What is happening today is only an affirmation of what Chief Ohaa had actually started much earlier than now. Within 48 hours after the primary, he had reached out to me and congratulated me. He also offered his commitment to mobilize and support this cause. “

Mbah said the various support groups at all levels were going to be integrated into one political family as had always been the case, adding that his primary objective was to transform the state, grow the economy and achieve a zero percent rate in the state’s poverty headcount index.

Earlier in his welcome address, Chief Ohaa pledged total support to Mbah, describing his emergence as the PDP governorship candidate as the handiwork of God.

Describing Mbah as his younger brother, he recalled their past relationship in government when the PDP governorship candidate was serving as the Enugu State Commissioner for Finance while he was the Accountant General of the State.

He said he would collapse his various support groups into Mbah’s campaign organization, appealing to his supporters across the state to work for the success of the party’s governorship flag bearer in the general election.
