The House of Representatives has made a decision to probe the murder of Prof. Samuel Ndubuisi, Director General of Scientific Equipment Development Institute, SEDI, Enugu.
Prof Ndubuisi was assassinated on Wednesday by unknown killers while travelling along the Enugu Port Harcourt Expressway.
The decision to investigate the gruesome murder followed a motion of urgent public importance moved by Toby Okechukwu.
Mr Okechukwu said the late professor “died in the course of his national duty” adding that he “was reportedly killed alongside his police orderly, while his driver sustained grave injuries.”
The lawmaker raised concerns over the killings in the region, adding that the protection of lives and properties is the main function of any government.
The lawmakers mandated the House Committee on Police Affairs to liaise with the Nigeria Police Force to investigate, apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators of the crime.
