Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have recovered two pump action guns and a Mercedes Sports Utility Vehicle abandoned in a ditch by suspected kidnappers

Policemen attached to the Forward Operating Base, while on patrol along the Uga-Ezinifite Expressway in Aguata Local Government Area of the state, chased the vehicle when they noticed that the driver was driving at a dangerous and suspicious speed.

The vehicle, a Mercedes GLK 350 4matic with number plate ENU484JV was recovered and taken to the Area Command headquarters in Uga.

This was disclosed in a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Sunday.
Ikenga said, “On Thursday, August 3, 2023, at about 8.30pm, a detachment of police-led Forward Operating Base at Aguata while on patrol on the Uga-Ezinifite Expressway saw an SUV drive past at a terrible speed. Suspecting that they may be kidnappers with an abducted victim, the team went in pursuit.

“Several kilometres later, the team found the vehicle in a ditch but without any occupant.

“They found clothing with blood stains in the vehicle as well as two pump action guns and a machete. The vehicle, a wine-coloured Mercedes GLK 350 4matic with number plate ENU484 JV was recovered and deposited for safekeeping at Area Command Headquarters in Uga.”

He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye while commending the Joint Security Team for its vigilance, had ordered a full-scale investigation to locate the owner of the vehicle.
