The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man, Michael Ayisa, for allegedly robbing a female Point-of-Sale (POS) operator of ₦200,000 at gunpoint in Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area.
The police said a pistol and an expended 9mm ammunition shell were recovered from the suspect.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said the suspect was arrested on October 18, 2026, at about 12:26 p.m. by operatives attached to Udenu Division, with support from members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.
According to the statement, the arrest followed a report that the suspect had robbed the victim at her shop along Old Orba Road, Uhulor, Obollo-Afor, on October 17 at about 9 a.m.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the victim raised the alarm as the suspect fled, allegedly threatening to shoot anyone who attempted to pursue him.
The police said the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation, adding that he would be arraigned in court after the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives for the arrest and acknowledged the support of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.
Giwa reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling crime and urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly to the police and other recognised security agencies.
