The Obi of Onitsha, Alfred Achebe, has urged Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano to engage in inter-state collaboration with security agencies to tackle insecurity.

The collaboration, he said, would equally be in alliance with traditional rulers, the Police, Army, Navy and Civil Defence Corps.

Achebe, the chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, gave the advice yesterday during the Security Council meeting at the Conference Hall, Government House, Awka.

He hailed Obiano for his efforts in fighting crimes and assured the citizens that the monarchs would help in solving the problem.

The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, commended the traditional rulers and the heads of security agencies for their efforts to tackle insecurity.

He said that the government would do everything to address the ugly situation.

Other monarchs, who supported the Obi of Onitsha, included Igwe Godwin Ezeilo of Nanka, Igwe Chidubem Iweka of Obosi, Igwe Ben Emeka of Umueri and Igwe Peter Ezeamama of Enugwu Umuonyia.

They stressed the need to beef up security.

Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, and the Director, DSS, Mr. Mike Obaje, promised to use their capacities as heads of security agencies to address insecurity.

They appealed to the traditional rulers to assist them with information on how to fish out bad eggs in their communities.
