Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has cautioned all the political actors in Anambra State against rigging the Saturday governorship election in the State.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Secretary-General of the Chidi Ibeh-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro.
He accused the Federal Government of being responsible for the escalating tension and violence in Anambra State, and the South-East generally.
Isiguzoro said the Government was paying for hastily proscribing the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, as a terrorist organization in 2017.
He, however, said “the recent lip services of crafty politicians who are exploiting the incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu and the security challenges to seek for the votes of Anambra people will surely boomerang.
“We foresee that the APC, with the level of insecurity in the State, will try to gain upper hand as the government in power at the federal level.
“But we want to warn that any political party that rigs, engages in vote-buying and manipulates the process might not have it easy to govern the State. It is then important that the popular choice of the people should be declared the winner”.
The Ohanaeze scribe lamented that “our legendary Igbo icons from Anambra will be crying in their graves based on the violence and level of security challenges in the State.
“The spirits of Dimm Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Dr. Alex Ekwueme and others will never allow purveyors of electoral violence to have their way on November 6th.
“No blood of any Igbo voter in Anambra is worth being shed over the governorship election.”
