Yet to be identified gunmen have kidnapped Rev. Fr. Christopher Ogide, a Catholic priest of Maria Assumpta Parish in Umuopara, Umuahia Diocese of Abia State.
In a statement released by the Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Henry Maduka, the incident occurred on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the entrance gate of the Parish house while Fr. Ogide was driving out to buy fuel.
The Catholic Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, Most Rev. Michael Kalu Ukpong, called on the faithful of the Diocese to be prayerful and remain calm following the kidnap of the Priest.
