According to them, Uzodimma has been instrumental to the APC’s increased acceptance by majority of the political class in the zone, adding that his human relations and his investment in party matters have shown that he is a man of the people.

The stakeholders, led by the Director of the National Agricultural Land Development Agency (NALDA), Prince Paul Ikonne made the observations when they paid a solidarity visit on the governor recently.

Governor Uzodimma thanked them for their concern for Imo State, following the recent attack by hoodlums on police stations and the custodial centre. He said their visit underscored the need for the zone to come together as a people to effectively tackle the issue of insecurity and make it a thing of the past.

In his words, “What is militancy or insurgency? What is insecurity when we have in our midst, retired and serving generals, senior police officers, both retired and serving? l think what has happened is just a way of waking our leaders to rise to the occasion.”

Uzodimma harped on the need for the Southeast to “shun all forms of distractions and jettison anything that would hinder the peace and development of the zone and to focus on electing the leaders of choice”.  He highlighted the need for the Southeast “to reintegrate into the national grid politically for better access to all benefits accruing to members of the ruling party”.

He also pointed out the need for the APC to win more states in the Southeast in future elections.

The stakeholders passed vote of confidence on Uzodimma’s leadership, highlighting the huge impact he has made on the party within and outside the zone within a short period.

They called the people, irrespective of party, religious or ethnic affiliation, to come together to support the state and Federal Government to restore peace and security in the Southeast in particular and the country as a whole.

The stakeholders, who attended the meeting, included former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Azubuike Ihejirika; former Diamond Bank Managing Director and two time Abia State governorship candidate, Dr. Alex Otti; Deputy Chief Whip, House of Representatives, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha among other prominent Abians.
