Ex-information minister and national secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Labaran Maku has critically observed that Anambra state has made steady progress under the APGA-led state government since it clinched governmental powers.

Maku stated this at the ASATU secretariat complex government house Awka while interacting with social media influencers in the state. He said APGA government beginning from Mr. Peter Obi to Governor Willie Obiano has entrenched transformational development and that evidence abound in the state.

The former information minister explained that Anambra state was doing tremendously well in terms of stability of governance, stability of peace and security, stability of the economy and what have you, stressing that Anambra has been developing in all ramifications.

According to him, the progress made in education, infrastructure, commerce, peace and security and other sectors of the economy clearly showed that Anambra has indeed blazed the trail in all-around development in the last 16 years.

Maku also noted that although Anambra state didn’t receive bailouts like other states across the country, the APGA government under Governor Willie Obiano has built an international airport without receiving a loan anywhere in the world.

He said under the APGA-led state government, Anambra has been officially gazetted as an oil-producing state, noting that if the leadership was kept stable for another 16 years under APGA, there would definitely be a sustained transition and transformation in the state as it is being witnessed in Lagos since 1999.

The APGA national scribe said it was not true that any political party not ruling at the centre was disadvantaged because the likes of Obafemi Awolowo operated with the opposition Action Group yet he achieved alot for the southwest and that Michael Opara had the platform of NCNC and achieved alot for the Southeastern region and that some of their accomplishments were still legacy projects till date.

Maku was of the opinion that there are many APC states in the country yet they are far behind Anambra. He said PDP states are not doing better than Anambra, adding that the development of a state depends on the legacy of the ruling party and the leadership quality.

He however mentioned that he was motivated by the fact that APGA has a quality candidate in the person of Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo and nobody can say he is inferior to any of the candidates because the future of Anambra state largely depends on the quality of governance, stressing that it is of paramount importance that Anambra people should not gamble with the November 6 governorship election.
